Cancer Survivor Hosts New Grant; Cash Awards for Amateur Photographers

The new Kirk Grant endeavors to encourage new talent with cash awards while generating interest in the sponsor’s cause; awareness and support of cancer patients through gift packages and donated services.

Naples, FL, September 06, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Kirk Grant has been created in memory of amateur photographer, captain Kirk Gardner, to raise awareness and support cancer patients while encouraging and exposing new creative talent. A fishing captain by trade, Kirk enjoyed photography and brought color to his community through his art. Cancer took this fun-loving fisherman too soon, denying him the chance to complete his photographic work or his life’s goals.

This event’s combination of supporting new photographers while raising awareness and funds for cancer patients is one way to keep Kirk’s memory alive. His legacy will live on by encouraging the work of new artists and aiding the competition’s sponsors in the fight against cancer.

This grant and fundraiser was started by breast cancer survivor, Rebecca Burg, and her new business, First Mates. Submissions will be judged by professionals recognized and respected in the visual arts community. Burg hopes to make this into an annual event.

The competition began Sept 1st, 2015, and ends November 30, 2015. Winners are announced mid-December. Amateur photographers are invited to submit their best two photos for a chance to be selected for cash grants. Burg is also an author and donates her books to the cause. Every entrant receives a free eBook from a choice of four entertaining selections.

Details, official rules, and the submission form can be found on Rebecca’s cancer blog and website: www.riseofcourage.com

The purpose of the Kirk Grant is to provide visible exposure and financial incentive for amateur photographers, aiding new artists in fulfilling their creative goals. Kirk and his photography showcased a zest for life and an appreciation for the amazing diversity of our planet; both its people and the natural world. The Kirk Grant endeavors to encourage new talent while generating interest in the sponsor’s cause; awareness and support of cancer patients through gift packages and donated services.

Entrants retain all rights to their creative work.
