Director of "Roses Underground" is on a Mission to Promote Diversity and Stronger Roles for Women in Hollywood

Washington, DC, September 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Sophia Reaves is the founder of 31:30 Productions and is the visionary, as well as the director of “Roses Underground,” a forthcoming action series slated for production later this month. The story she describes as “intriguing” and one that will keep the audience engaged, often times at the edge of their seat as the story unfolds. “Roses Underground” is set to film the first 2 episodes this fall with a plan to launch distribution by early spring of 2017. When asked “what are you looking for in a distributor?” she responded, “an ideal distributor would want to promote diversity and be a part of the positive change occurring in Hollywood and stand strong with her in “representing that.” Director Sophia Reaves articulated what to expect from this engaging series, in a recent interview to include, “highlighting beautiful and talented female fighters and a diverse cast, an intriguing storyline that will keep you engaged while highlighting stories featuring the underdog.” She also continued to say that through this film the audience at large “will be supporting the growth of Indie female filmmakers and various talent throughout the industry.” Diversity in Hollywood is needed according to many of her peers. Sophia Reaves has produced ten short films through her production company 31:30 Productions in the past year. She produced and acted in a short film called “Cuckoo’s Nesting” as a test run for the “D.C. 48 Hr Film Project.” It was nominated for Best Director (Jesse Jenkins), Best Cinematography (Jacob Drum Heller), Best Screenplay (Cisco Davis, Jr.), and Best Acting (Sophia Reaves and Mackie Lou Vigal) at the 2016 WMIFF, World Music and Independent Film Festival. She also produced the short film “Guber” for the the 2016 DC 48Hr Film Project. Reaves film“Guber” made the top 3 in its category and was selected to be shown at the “Best Of” DC 48Hr Film Project Screening & Awards. Sophia Reaves was also nominated for Best Director for her work on “Guber” through WMIFF. Others nominated for “Guber” include Best Cinematographer, Edwin Koester and Best Acting, Jesse Jenkins. Her series, “Roses Underground” is currently in pre-production. Cast and crew has been secured and confirmed.

During this past summer, she produced and directed six test shoot auditions and out of those chose her current 3 leading ladies for The Action Series - “Roses Underground.” This month the production company under the guidance of director/publicist/talent in TV/Film, Lisa Pellegrene will be launching their first crowdfunding campaign. “We hope to exponentially increase the following for such an engaging film which is one that is purposeful as well,” according to Lisa Pellegrene.
