Texas Hospital Association Goes Live with NextGate EMPI Solution

NextGate Manages 12 Million Unique Patient Records for the Texas Hospital Association through NextGate's Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) solution that correlates patient identifiers across a pilot of 250 THA-member hospitals.

Austin, TX, September 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- NextGate, the leading health care technology company for patient and provider identification, announced today that the Texas Hospital Association (THA) has gone live with NextGate’s MatchMetrix® technology platform as its Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) solution. The NextGate EMPI is correlating patient identifiers across a pilot of 250 THA-member hospitals through THA’s Patient Data System (PDS). The results of this initial product launch expect to fuel expansion to all 476 member hospitals.

NextGate is managing over 12 million unique patients for THA at the time of Go Live. THA is building the technology into its brand-new flagship analytics and visualization platform, Atlas.

“Collaboration between providers is key to improving the quality of care patients receive, but to collaborate effectively, providers need the ability to view accurate data from across the continuum,” said Fernando Martinez, Ph.D., THA’s chief digital officer. “Unfortunately, the current market produces data siloes and multiple patient identifiers that make it difficult to correlate data from disparate sources. With NextGate’s EMPI, we are building a system that will overcome this challenge for all of our hospitals.”

After successful completion of the original pilot, THA will grow the population of hospitals in PDS as well as expand source systems to include real-time data feeds from THA Smart Ribbon. THA Smart Ribbon is a patent-pending, non-intrusive ribbon of information that hovers over a hospital’s electronic medical record and gives physicians real-time, patient-specific cost and risk data at the point of care.

Driven by the vision of a unified health care delivery system for Texas, THA is leveraging NextGate’s EMPI technology to assess and analyze data from its member hospitals. One of the largest hospital associations in the United States, THA regularly provides data and analytics services to its members. THA selected NextGate for its No. 1 KLAS-rated patient-matching software. Through this new partnership, THA will aggregate data submitted from the initial 250 hospitals, laying the foundation for better data management and accurate patient identity across all future member hospitals in Texas.

“We are thrilled to partner with THA to deliver better data to hospitals and health systems throughout Texas. NextGate is helping to minimize medical errors, reduce billing issues, improve interactions with patients and enhance information-sharing,” said Andy Aroditis, CEO and co-founder of NextGate. “Good data will serve as a foundation for THA and for its members as they work to improve the health care system.”

NextGate’s EMPI solution delivers the ability to accurately match and link patient information in the absence of a common identifier, allowing providers to achieve a unified view of any patient. With over 20 years of experience as the leader in building and implementing master patient index solutions, NextGate delivers an EMPI that uses advanced probabilistic matching algorithms to identify, index and resolve related patient records spread over different applications and disparate systems. It builds a comprehensive master index of patients and links them together under a single identifier. Today, NextGate's EMPI manages over 175 million lives through its No. 1 KLAS-rated patient-matching product.
