New Sustainable Edible Coating ALOECOAT 1-BIO Improves Food Safety in the Fresh Chile Pepper


ALOECOAT 1-BIO is a new aloe based edible coating which helps chile pepper growers and packers to protect fresh produce of bacteria and fungi, extending shelf life.

Nogales, AZ, September 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Mexican company Aloe Eco Park SAPI de CV, (www.aloeecopark.com) launched ALOECOAT 1-BIO in the US chile pepper sector.

ALOECOAT 1-BIO is an aloe based edible coating which helps chile pepper growers and packers to protect fresh produce from bacteria and fungi, and to extend shelf life, improving food safety and final consumers satisfaction with total sustainability.

ALOECOAT 1-BIO contributes to safe packing in fresh chile peppers, as required by the new Produce Safety Final Rule under Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

ALOECOAT 1-BIO is a new polysaccharide based edible coating manufactured by Aloe Eco Park SAPI de CV, a Mexican company located in Sonora, Mexico, very close to the US chile pepper cluster located in New Mexico. This aloe product is a novel technological solution to improve food safety in the chile pepper sector.

Aloe is very well known for its antibacterial and antifungal protection, validated by hundreds of researchers worldwide. Aloe based edible coatings has many Kill-Step validations showing its excellent performance in food safety. In past experiences with Mexican chile pepper growers, ALOECOAT 1-BIO validated its attributes. Such experiences were carried in Sonora, Sinaloa, Jalisco and Puebla with habanero, jalapeño, serrano, poblano, anaheim and caribe varieties.

ALOECOAT 1-BIO gives a strong protection against bacteria and fungi to fresh chile peppers, and also extends shelf life, because it creates a biofilm all over the surface of each chile pepper.

The Produce Safety Final Rule under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) establishes minimum standards for the safe growing, harvesting, packing, and holding of produce grown for human consumption. This new aloe based product will help chile pepper growers, packers and distributors to comply with the new legislation.

This technological solution offer several advantages when compared to other post harvest treatment products used in the fresh produce industry. The typical coatings used by industry -mineral, animal or vegetal waxes- only gives brightness and a short shelf life, but no antibacterial or antifungical protection. Modified atmosphere plastic bags offer good protection but are made of a non renewable resource, are not reusable and must be disposed with a cost.

Instead, ALOECOAT 1-BIO is totally made from a renewable resource, is 100% biodegradable, totally sustainable and made from a well know plant with many scientifically proven attributes.

The solution ALOECOAT 1-BIO is a new sustainable option to improve Food Safety in the Fresh Chile Pepper industry, since it gives several benefits to all members of the supply chain, from growers and packers to distributors, retailers and consumers.

ALOECOAT 1-BIO has one specific formulation for chile pepper, and it is offered in 20 liter plastic drum, 200 liter (55 gallon) drum and 1000 liter plastic tote.
