Academy Award-Winning Comedian Steven Wright to Perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Jan. 13
Dover, DE, September 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Academy Award winner and Grammy- and Emmy-nominated comedian Steven Wright will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Friday, Jan. 13 at 9 p.m.

Wright has been a staple on the worldwide entertainment scene for more than three decades, dating from his first appearance on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” on Aug. 6, 1982. Carson enjoyed the performance so much, Wright was invited to appear on the show again less than a week later.
From there, Wright’s career expanded to albums, film and television appearances. His 1985 debut album “I Have A Pony,” earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album, and he appeared in his first HBO stand-up special, “A Steven Wright Special,” later that year.
In 1989, Wright received an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings,” in which he starred and co-wrote. In 1990, he made his second HBO appearance with the special “Wicker Chairs and Gravity.”
Wright has made appearances and lent his voice talents to numerous films, including “Reservoir Dogs,” “Natural Born Killers,” “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “Mixed Nuts,” The Swan Princess,” “Canadian Bacon,” “The Muse,” “Half-Baked,” “Babe 2: Pig in the City,” “Coffee and Cigarettes,” and “The Aristocrats.”
Wright’s second Grammy nomination came after the release of his second album, “I Still Have A Pony,” in September 2007.
In June 2013, Wright received The Johnny Carson Comedy Legend Award, given annually to a comedian who has been influenced by Carson and left their own mark on the comedy world. Past winners include Dick Cavett, Ed Asner and Cloris Leachman.
Wright was nominated for an Emmy Award as a producer for the hit FX series “Louie” for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and also appears on Louis CK’s new web series “Horace and Pete.”
