Service Professor to Host Blood Drive

Grand Rapids, MI, September 17, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Service Professor, a local heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical company serving West Michigan for over 37 years, will host a Michigan Blood mobile blood drive on October 31, 2016. The Halloween-themed mobile blood drive will be held in Service Professor’s parking lot between the hours of 6-11 a.m.

“We appreciate the support we receive from our communities, and are excited about this fun opportunity to give back,” says Brad Krause, Service Professor’s president. “Our employees are frequently involved in community outreach initiatives, so partnering with Michigan Blood for this event is a natural extension of that involvement.”

According to the Michigan Blood website, more than 4.5 million patients require blood transfusions each year in the U.S. and Canada. Individuals need blood transfusions for a number of reasons, including cancer, heart and gastrointestinal disease/defects, and accidental injuries. Due to the diversity of blood types needed and the relative short shelf-life of blood, the demand for blood donations remains strong.

The blood drive is open to the public. Any healthy person aged 17 or older (16 with parental consent) who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate. Donors should bring photo ID (or two forms of non-photo ID). Anyone interested is encouraged to call or email Service Professor to schedule an appointment. Potential donors may call 616.871.1921, or email rikkab@serviceprofessor.com. For more information about Michigan Blood, please visit www.michiganblood.org.
