London, United Kingdom, September 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Eye Clinic London proudly announces that they are the very first clinic in the UK to have the E-Eye device. The E-Eye is a groundbreaking medical device, the only one in the world that uses Intense Regulated Pulsed Light (IRPL). Specifically designed for treating dry eye diseases caused by Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), the technology behind the E-Eye offers long term relief for patients.

Using the IRPL technology, the E-Eye device generates polychromatic pulses. Each flash of light released is delivered under the shape of train pulses and targets treatment areas like the cheekbone and the temple around the eye. Here, the nerve branches connected to the Meibomian gland nerve and affected by dry eye disease are located. The train of pulse then creates a micro gradient of temperature between the inner and outer layer of the myelin sheath and triggers the liberation of neurotransmitters. The neurotransmitters, in turn, will interact with the glands to stimulate the secretion and contraction of the Meibomian gland.

While the procedure sounds complex, treatment using the E-Eye device is generally non-invasive. This is because the “flashed” areas are where the parasympathetic nerve passes which is directly connected to the Meibomian gland, thus naturally ensuring the natural flow of lipid and reducing tear evaporation. Everything from the energy, time period, and spectrum are set precisely to stimulate the Meibomian glands to restore normal function.

The E-Eye device was made and developed in France by E-Swin, the world’s largest IPL device manufacturer. Since its launch, the E-Eye device has only been made available in a few countries around the world like the UK, Australia, Belgium, Singapore, Spain, China, Dubai, Germany, Russia, Greece and Italy. As of 2015, over 35,000 patients have been treated with the E-Eye device worldwide. According to E-Swin, the device has an 84 per cent efficiency from the first session and an 86 per cent satisfaction rate even for patients who have mild, medium and severe dry eye.
