A Year in the Mind of a Grieving Poet

A year is relatively a short period of time, but when your world is flipped upside down, a year can be a lifetime. Losing her balance, after the death of her best friend and brother in 2006, Myss.Underst00d travels through many emotions and phases in her poetry book, One Year Ago I Lost Myself In This World: …And This Is The Result. Redefining her life, her thoughts, her values, and beliefs, she writes from the soul trying to find peace of mind in the world she lost herself in one year ago.

Miami, FL, January 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A year is relatively a short period of time, but when your world is flipped upside down, a year can be a lifetime. Losing her balance, after the death of her best friend and brother on October 11, 2006, Myss.Underst00d travels through many emotions and phases in her poetry book, One Year Ago I Lost Myself In This World: …And This Is The Result. Redefining her life, her thoughts, her values, and beliefs, she writes from the soul trying to find peace of mind in the world she lost herself in one year ago and published it on Lulu.com, the online marketplace for digital content.

From October 11, 2006 to the publication of her book in early January 2008, Myss.Underst00d used her creativity to grieve the death of her best friend and brother Jose through poetry. Weaving words and lines together to create explosive imagery explaining her feelings and what ventures through her mind. Her poetry is not limited to her grief, but also targets many things she sees in this world. Whether it be a social or political commentary, she writes with much feeling and personal opinion. When you read and/or hear her work, you definitely can feel what she feels when she writes.

One of the very first purchasers of the book, Joanne Solenne, says, “The book is great. I wish I had ordered more books at the same time so I can give them as books. She is very talented for the age of 18.” Many others, in conjunction with having seen Myss.Underst00d perform at various open mic nights at her high school and later her college, find that this compilation of poems is her best work yet and expect nothing more, but even better work in the years to come. Myss.Underst00d says about her book, “It was a very hard struggle to write this. Not necessarily the actual effort of writing poems, but the emotional strain that came with the topics. Whether personal experience or just my own personal opinions on whatever the topic happened to be, it took some emotional strengthening on my part. I can admit, I was weak. Just dealing with a death of a person who meant the world to me was hard, but you’ll see it in my poetry.”

Some times, in order to write a poem, she would enlist the help of friends to give her a first line. The line could be anything they want and most importantly, she preferred paradoxical lines. Simply put, she wanted lines that challenged the common sense of the average person. One such poem is “Oblivious”.

Myss.Underst00d is definitely new to the book scene and is in the process of completing her first novel. You can preview and purchase her poetry book at http://www.lulu.com/content/1670248.
