London, United Kingdom, January 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The highlights of KonaKart version 2.2.2.0 :

Support for the JSR 168 portlet specification in order to allow users to run KonaKart within a portlet. The aim of JSR 168 is to enable interoperability between portlets and portals. An online demo of KonaKart in a portal server is provided using the Apache Jetspeed 2 Enterprise Portal.

The ability to allow a customer to checkout without registration. The customer still has to supply the shipping address but no longer needs to supply a password.

Customer notifications added to the Admin App. Admin users can send template based eMails to all customers, to all customers who have requested to receive the newsletter and to customers that have asked to be notified about any updates for a particular product.

A new UPS Shipping Module has been integrated.

The notification of order status changes via eMail has been enhanced, to enable users to define a unique Velocity template for each order status. This allows users to send more personalized eMails for when payment has been received or for when the order has been shipped etc.

Now possible to sort products (using the application API) based on values in the custom fields. Previously clients could just sort them by name or by price etc. This "custom ordering" allows clients to prioritize products based on specific business logic.

New functionality to allow users to search for products (using the application API) based on data within the custom fields. The Advanced Search facility within the application has been enhanced to demonstrate how this new feature can be used.

The AdminCustomerSearch object has been enhanced to enable users to search for customers that have signed up to receive the newsletter and to receive notifications for certain products.

All application API calls that return an array of products now return data for all of the custom fields. Previously only custom1 and custom2 were returned.

Custom fields have been added to the Basket and OrderProduct objects. This allows you to store extra information such as a product price calculated using custom business logic.

The Admin App API has a few new function calls:
setCustomerPassword()
insertProductNotification()
deleteProductNotification()
getCustomerForEmail()

Many improvements have been made to the Javadoc which accompanies every download kit.

The GWT one page checkout code and build file is now included in the KonaKart download packages.
