)-- On November 22-23, 2016, PATECCO and its gold partner – iWelcome, took part together at Consumer Identity Summit 2016, in Paris, France. The event, organised by CXP-Group and the analyst firm – Kuppingercole, had a great performance by focusing on the hot topic about the connection between Consumer Identity & Access Management and Customer Relationship Management.
The two IAM companies gave a kickstart into the world of CIAM, where a priority is the customers’ privacy, their needs and protection of their information against cyber risks. Their experts presented some useful key topics and practical examples in order to reveal more details on the worldwide concern of the businesses: Consumer Identity & Access management (CIAM) of Southern Water at the brink of the new European Privacy Regulation (GDPR), The Impact and Visualisation of GDPR for Consumer Identity Management and User-Managed Access (UMA) and its CIAM Use Cases.
Main accents of the presentations were about CIAM as the centrepiece for the Digital Transformation movement, especially the extension of the current IAM platform at Southern Water to a Customer-IAM solution for support of their future strategy. The other essential points referred to some of the key features of GDPR having a substantial impact on security requirements.
In fact, Identity and access management was represented as an important category of technology in the delivery of GDPR compliance, because through effective IAM, the organization is able to show who has or had access to what, why, when, and what they did with that access; it is a core principle of defence of important data. The last focus was put on the use of UMA (User-Managed Access) in the context of CIAM systems for managing customer related data, taking into account the upcoming GDPR.
