Building Design + Construction Magazine Names FKP VP a Top Young Leader: Ardis Clinton Selected for 40 Under 40 Class of 2016

Building Design + Construction magazine selected FKP Vice-President Ardis Clinton as one of their "40 Under 40" young leaders in the architecture/engineering/construction industry.

Houston, TX, December 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Abraham Lincoln said, “It’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.” Building Design + Construction honors this sentiment with their annual “40 Under 40” competition. The program pays tribute to the next generation of leadership in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. Jurors selected Ardis Clinton, FKP vice president, from among hundreds of nominees to be included in the 2016 class of 40 under 40 inductees.

At 38, Clinton is one of the youngest vice presidents and senior project managers at FKP. She earned her architecture registration only six years into her career. In a “doer/seller” role, Clinton has helped FKP grow their Science + Education sector by 423% in 18 months. She is currently working on the new University of Houston – Clear Lake STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) facility, and the Texas Tech Health Science Center at the Permian Basin Academic Building.

“Architecture needs more women like Ardis Clinton,” Cynthia Walston, FKP Senior Principal, said. “I’d even say that architecture needs more architects like Ardis. She is extremely driven, but more importantly, she is fearless. She is willing to take risks when she sees growth opportunity for her clients, her employer and herself. She never hesitates to be a bridge between the architectural process and those who can benefit from it.”

As one of only 35% on average of women who pass the Architect Registration Exam, the AIA Houston chapter featured Clinton in their 2014 exhibit “Women in Architecture.” She was also profiled in Texas Architect magazine’s April 2013 article “Creating Community”, detailing how she maintains work/life balance. Clinton uses her position as an aspiring industry leader to advocate for more women in architecture. Her personal mission is mentoring the next generation of architects.

Clinton is a 2002 graduate of the University of Houston Hines College of Architecture, where she focused on aerospace architecture, a subject she was recently invited to speak about at the national American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) conference. In addition to being a licensed architect, she is LEED AP BD+C certified and is a CSI Construction Document Technologist. Outside of the office, Ardis is focused on her twin boys. She is a volunteer with their Cub Scout pack and a member of the Bay Area Mothers of Multiples group. She is also currently learning how to compete in roller derby.

Clinton and the other young leaders are featured in the October issue of BD+C and were recently recognized at the Under 40 Leadership Summit in Chicago.
