OmniGlobe Receives CDN $200,000 Contribution from the National Research Council Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP)

Montreal, Canada, January 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- OmniGlobe Networks, Inc., the global telecommunications company specialized in delivering cellular, broadband Internet and VoIP services, announced that it has received a CDN $200,000 contribution from the National Research Council Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), its third contribution in two years. The latest contribution will be used by the company to further develop its innovative satellite-cellular based infrastructure for delivering cellular phone services to remote regions of the globe. In addition to funding, NRC-IRAP will also provide valuable advisory services in the development of this project.

The rural areas present a challenging opportunity for mobile communications services, and the demand for service has grown exponentially over the past few years. In Canada alone, it is estimated that over eight per cent of the population do not currently have access to cellular services. This problem is particularly acute in remote regions, where conventional telecommunications infrastructure is often non-existent. OmniGlobe’s solution, which consists in deploying cellular service using a satellite backhaul infrastructure, provides instant, reliable and affordable communication services to users.

“Modern communication technologies are essential in remote communities. With the previous support from NRC-IRAP, we were able to successfully develop our network and bandwidth management solution that allowed us to deliver cost-effective broadband Internet services in unserved areas,” explained Dr. Jason Neale, CEO of OmniGlobe Networks. “With this latest investment, we will go one step further, and extend our portfolio of services to include satellite-cellular communications.”
