SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation Connects Girls to Hidden Figures in STEM

SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation hosts discussion about the film Hidden Figures with parents and girls ages 10-17 from underserved and minority communities about the role of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Houston, TX, January 02, 2017 --(PR.com)-- SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation will host a discussion about the film Hidden Figures with parents and girls ages 10-17 and young ladies 18-27 who will attend a movie viewing to watch the film followed by a lunch discussion about the movie and its historical portrayal of women in space program and in STEM careers. The two-city event will take place in Houston, Texas and Lorton, Va. Participants in the two cities will connect via Skype.

Girls, young ladies and their parents who are exposed early to women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, especially minority women, are better able to bridge gaps in learning science and math concepts as well as improve overall confidence in solving problems. The film Hidden Figures provides a great opportunity to engage families in a discussion about STEM careers and opportunities to become leaders in their chosen fields.
