Cardiovascular monitoring and diagnostics generally refers to continuous monitoring of heart activity, generally by electrocardiography, with assessment of the patient's condition relative to their cardiac rhythm. The ICM permits prolonged monitoring without external electrodes and is ideally suited to patients with infrequent recurrent syncope thought to be due to an arrhythmic cause.
