Belconn to Supply Heat Shrinkable Closures for Telecommunication Cables to Kosovo PTT

Belconn was awarded a supply contract by PTK, Kosovo's telecommunication operator.

Torino, Italy, February 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Belconn announced they were awarded by PTK a contract for the supply of heat shrinkable closures for telecommunication cables.

"The contract," Belconn spokesman says, "is a further confirmation of how competitive the company became in this key field. It took months of development, but at last we can claim we've got a very reliable and cost effective design."

Heat shrinkable closures are wrap-around plastic sleeves usually used to protect copper cable joints. The sleeve is manufactured with a special process which gets it shrunk after heating with a fire hose. After shrinking, the wrap-around sleeve fully protects the cables joints against water permeation, fungi, chemicals and mechanical stresses.

Belconn's family of heat shrinkable closures, named KVT, is specifically designed for telecommunication cables; products are available for both jelly filled and dry cables, pressurized and non pressurized.

At the end of 2006 Belconn signed a contract with Telecom Italia, by far the largest italian fixed line telephone operator owning over 30m subscriber copper pais, to directly supply heat shrinkable closures. Minor contracts to Russia, Belarus, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Egypt followed since then.

Belconn is a manufacturer of "passive solutions for telecommunication, voice and data networks", having braches in 5 countries and sales to over 50 countries worldwide.
