New Development of Stapleford Granary Unveiled by ACE Foundation

Cambridge, United Kingdom, March 04, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Cambridge-based arts charity, the ACE Foundation has just issued plans to a shortlist of potential main contractors for the development of its venue and study centre Stapleford Granary. The rejuvenation of the old farm buildings in Stapleford is the second phase in the ACE Foundation's vision to create an inspiring space providing educational activities and events for all ages.

Already Stapleford Granary is a thriving space for a diverse range of performances, workshops, lectures and courses. The next step will allow an even greater programme of events and provide improved visitor facilities, including an increase in capacity for the main recital hall, together with enlarged foyer and refreshment areas.

The nineteenth-century buildings were formerly part of the historic Bury Farm in Stapleford, just a few minutes from Cambridge, and within walking distance of Wandlebury downs and the Gog Magog hills. Local architects Moses Cameron Williams have provided a plan that will see the buildings lovingly restored in order to maintain their character whilst also offering an open and welcoming space. A centrepiece of the design is a glass walkway connecting the existing main performance space to the upcoming development. Building work will commence in Summer 2017 and will be completed in time for the ACE Foundation to celebrate 60 years since its founding in 1958.

During the construction, a limited programme of courses and events will continue at Stapleford Granary. We welcome everyone of all ages and abilities, and the broad range of events means there is something for all interests. Here are some of the highlights this Spring:
