Georgia Nurses Association Hosts Community Outreach Initiative in Atlanta for Families

Atlanta, GA, March 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00am, The Georgia Nurses Association will host its inaugural Spring Family Expo on the GNA campus at 3032 Briarcliff Rd NE Atlanta, Georgia 30329. The purpose of the Spring Family Expo is to celebrate the Easter holiday and encourage the local community and the nursing community to keep family unity as a priority. The Expo is free to attend and will not only offer family oriented activities, but also activities for kids and individuals as well as mini-seminars focused on overall well being (www.SpringFamilyExpo.Eventbrite.com).

A few highlights at the Expo include live performing musical entertainers, exhibitions, prize giveaways, vendor showcase as well as health and wellness activities. A few of the mini-seminar topics include College Readiness, Retirement Readiness, Fitness & Nutrition, Child Protect Programs, Divorce Prevention and Recovery, Women's & Men's Health, Financial Management, Stress Management & Reduction, Single-Parent Household resources plus much more.

The PEW Research Center reported a study on the American Family Today in 2015. The study revealed that two parent households have declined to 69% while single parent households are on a steady climb with an increase to 26%. The study further revealed that single parent households and two parent households that spend extensive time in the workforce, demonstrated increased stress levels, behavior issues among children, financial imbalance and family disruptions (www.PewSocialTrends.org). The Center for Disease Control and Prevention - National Center for Health Statistics reported in 2014 there were 3.2 divorces per 1,000 population (www.CDC.gov). Nurse Choice reported The U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey revealed Nursing is among the top ten professionals most likely to divorce to due stress (www.NurseChoice.com).

The GNA Spring Family Expo seeks to offer families an opportunity to embrace family unity, thwart divorce, encourage communication and learn how to manage today's demands on life.
