)-- Gardening expert, TV host and author Melinda Myers will be a featured speaker at the upcoming 2008 New Jersey Flower & Garden Show which runs Feb. 14-17, 2008 at the New Jersey Convention Center. Myers will present the following:
· Feb. 16 at 3 pm – “5 Tips for Successful Container Gardens” - Increase your success and decrease your workload while creating beautiful containers for your balcony, patio or front entrance. Melinda will share 5 keys to successful container gardening that are sure to increase your enjoyment. It starts with soil and ends with the plants. Learn how to properly plant and maintain a beautiful container garden.
· Feb. 17 at Noon – “Spring Container Gardens” - You don’t have to wait until Mother’s Day to add a few planters to your landscape. Get a jump-start on the season with a spring planter. Melinda will talk about suitable plants and plant combinations that can add life and beauty to your landscape.
· Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. – “Maximize your Enjoyment in a Small Space Garden” - Creating Entertaining and Meditation Areas in the Garden. Whether you have a large property or small space to garden, you can create the outdoor living space of your dreams. Melinda will provide tips and techniques for designing and maintaining gardens with year round interest in every layer from the ground to the roofline. She’ll also provide tips on adding in some furnishings and accessories for intimate gatherings, big parties or a quiet space to relax.

Myers, best known for her practical, gardener-friendly approach to gardening, has more than 25 years of horticultural experience in both hands-on and instructional settings. She has a master’s degree in horticulture, is a certified arborist, and was a horticulture instructor with tenure. Myers shares her expertise through a variety of media outlets. She is the author of numerous gardening books, including Can’t Miss Small Space Gardening and the Birds & Blooms’ Ultimate Gardening Guide. She hosts “Great Lakes Gardener,” seen on PBS stations throughout the United States and “Melinda’s Garden Moments”, which air on network television stations throughout the country. She also appears regularly as a guest expert on various national and local television and radio shows.
