Brooklyn, NY, March 28, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Giving back to the community, supporting local artists and fair trade artisans worldwide, and creating a unique artsy boutique featuring one-of-a-kind, affordable, fine quality merchandise for the neighborhood they call home, long-time Ditmas Park residents Susan Siegel and Jocelyn Lucas Kirouac have done just that by creating Brooklyn ARTery five years ago. Located at 1021 Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park, this welcoming boutique features handmade jewelry, arts and crafts, and cool stuff made by local artists. They also play an important role in the community.

On April 1 and 2, from 11am to 8pm, as part of the annual Eat and Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou, the ARTery is hosting a neighborhood appreciation event. This is held in conjunction with the Cortelyou Road Merchants Association (CORMA) and the Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC), and features specials, raffles and giveaways from the variety of shop keepers on Cortelyou Road, ranging from the ARTery merchandise to gift certificates from local restaurants, bars, food co-op and other retailers on the bustling corridor. A percentage of sales at the ARTery during this event will benefit the ACLU.

“We are excited to invite our customers to join us for this event and thank them for their patronage,” says Susan Siegel one of the owners. Many Brooklyn gift shops similar to The ARTery have closed down over the last couple of years. “We are grateful that area residents realize the importance of supporting the local economy,” adds Jocelyn Kirouac, the other owner. “The raffle prizes feature many of the fine quality products we have at the ARTery, as well as giveaways from other local businesses.”

The ARTery is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11am to 8pm. Closed Monday.
