Clinton, MA Middle School Student Drummer to Hit the Stage with Dad
Local father and son musical team to perform at party celebrating band's new CD release in Hopkinton, MA.
Clinton, MA, June 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- A Clinton Middle School sixth grader is joining his father on stage at Barn #81 in June to perform at a party celebrating the release of their new CD, "Wiggy," from their band Shecky and the Pimp Monkeys.
The band's keyboardist, Clinton, MA resident Mark Yurkovic (Shecky), started playing piano at age five. His love of music led him to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he took up playing keyboards and majored in Music Production and Engineering — a new major available at the time. "I was one of the first classes to go through that new major," says Mark.
Joining Yurkovic on stage is an unlikely drummer — his son Eli — who at 12 years-old is already an accomplished musician and a star in the making.
“Eli was a natural talent as soon as he sat down with the drums,” his proud dad says. “He literally already knew how to play. He’s been taking rock lessons ever since, now learning jazz and playing at The Joy of Music in Worcester.” He adds that Eli has already performed with the band at a gig in New Hampshire, and is taking lessons from Phil Antoniades, the band’s regular drummer who’s also performing at the party.
Apparently, Eli isn’t the only talent in the family. His twin brother, Nate, plays on a National Premier League soccer team in one of the top soccer clubs in Massachusetts. Yurkovic lives in Clinton, MA with his wife Patricia, twin sons Eli and Nate, and two cats.
Fans of Shecky and the Pimp Monkeys say the band’s musical style reminds them of Beatles, XTC, Jellyfish and Robyn Hitchcock
The CD release party will be held in Hopkinton, at Barn #81 on June 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets are limited, but the price of admission includes a preshow reception, appetizers and a copy of Shecky and the Pimp Monkeys new CD, "Wiggy."
