AOK Records Artist the Knight Family Makes Leap to Bluegrass Gospel

Nashville, TN, June 14, 2017 --(PR.com)-- AOK Records artist, The Knight Family has been a mainstay in Gospel music for over 30 years. Having achieved many charting singles and maintaining a touring schedule that has, at its peak, featured 240 dates per year. Part of that career has involved forays into Bluegrass Gospel music. The group’s 2015 release “Hallelujah Kinda Day: The Bluegrass Album” featured Adam Knight along with Tim Surrett, John Bowman and Ben Isaacs on instrumentation. The group has enjoyed guest appearances on releases with the legendary Bobby Osborne.

However, most of the groups repertoire features Southern Gospel instrumentation and the live program has always featured a hybrid of tracks and live instruments. Adam Knight explains that is changing. He stated, “We love Southern Gospel music and will always do our churches and work with promoters. We have several dates coming up with artists like the Perry’s, McKameys and the like. However, God has impressed us so deeply that we need to simplify our program. I have been a musician for 30 years. I make a living playing guitar, yet have relied on tracks for our live sound. The Lord is just leading us this direction right now.”

The group has just released their most anticipated album ever. Entitled, “Keep On The Sunny Side: A Tribute to our Mountain Roots,” the album features traditional mountain Gospel offerings with 2 acoustic guitars and an upright bass. Adam relates, “Our personal lives and talents have been so inspired by artists like the Carter Family, Flatt & Scruggs, The Whites, The Cox Family and artists of that style. We have always done acapella music in our programs. With the introduction of our tribute to that style of music, folks have just come out of the woodwork to show their support and ask us to do more and more of this.”

This move also marks the end of the Adam + Angel side project. The group will perform strictly Gospel music. Some dates will feature Adam only on guitar. Most concerts, Adam and Angel’s son Kyle will play bass guitar. He is an incoming member of the ETSU Bluegrass program. The group is looking forward to announcing appearances at many Bluegrass festivals, and Opry houses as well as having a presence at this year’s IBMA meeting in Raleigh, NC.

In other news, group matriarch Linda Knight is celebrating her 50th year of singing Gospel music. Recently, Congressman Phil Roe honored her with the presentation of a flag flown over the United States Capital in Washington, DC.
