Los Angeles, CA, June 19, 2017 --(PR.com
)-- Attorney Michael D. Waks is offering a $1,000 award to the winner of the Michael D. Waks Essay Contest. High school students in grade 12 or undergraduate college students currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year accredited university or college from Los Angeles County who are living with a disability are invited to participate.
"Young people living with a disability, either through genetic misfortune, or as a result of an accident, must try that much harder than the rest of society to achieve their goals. Getting a College Degree is an expensive proposition. My annual essay contest, which is now in its 2nd year, has been developed to help defray at least some of the costs associated with the College expense."
The deadline for the 2017 contest is August 1, 2017.
Essays can be no more than 750 words, but must be a minimum of 500 words.
Each essay must be the original work of the student submitting it.
Students are asked to write a story or essay on the following theme:
What educational challenges have you experienced due to your disability? How have you overcome these challenges in the past and how will you overcome them in the future? How has your disability influenced your choice of study and career?
Entries will be judged on the basis of content, readability and proper use of grammar and punctuation.
The winner will be announced at www.michaelwaks.com on August 31, 2017.
