Code Generation Support for Renesas R-Car D1 Announced by Altia and Green Hills Software

Colorado Springs, CO, June 29, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Altia and Green Hills Software announce the new code generation support for the Renesas R-Car D1 using Altia HMI development software and Green Hills INTEGRITY real-time separation kernel with INTEGRITY Multivisor virtualization solution. This combination of technologies is already slated for production for numerous automotive instrument clusters.

The Renesas R-Car D1 series offers tremendous benefits for cluster systems, including enablement of 3D content, high-speed system start-up and functional safety mechanisms. At press time, the R-Car D1 can have either one or two ARM Cortex-A7 cores. To drive graphics, the R-Car D1 has both RGL and OpenGL ES 2.0 pipelines – both of which Altia leverages to deliver optimized graphics performance. Additionally, because the R-Car D1 includes the same 2D graphics system as the one used in the Renesas RH850/D1M, HMI development teams using Altia can easily migrate 2D graphics development assets and further develop 3D graphic assets for the R-Car D1.

The code generation target for Renesas R-Car D1 is tailored to run on the Green Hills INTEGRITY real-time separation kernel and INTEGRITY Multivisor. With this automotive-grade platform, embedded developers are ensured that their applications meet the highest possible security, reliability and performance standards. The INTEGRITY products isolate and protect embedded applications using a memory-partitioning architecture. Secure partitions are created, guaranteeing that each task has available the resources it needs to run correctly. These secure partitions fully protect the INTEGRITY operating system and native user tasks from safety and security threats like malicious code or guest OSs.

"The combination of Green Hills Software’s ISO 26262 and IEC 61508-certified INTEGRITY RTOS and Altia’s HMI development software and tuned code generation for the Renesas R-Car D1 enables Tier 1 developers to create world-class digital instrument clusters and progress into consolidated cluster plus IVI systems on a single SOC," says Chris Tubbs, business development director, EMEA, Green Hills Software.

This version of Altia’s target for Renesas R-Car D1 is tuned to run on Green Hills INTEGRITY. To create an HMI for this target, Altia Design pulls together 2D and 3D graphic assets into a single model. Altia DeepScreen then generates production-ready C code that takes full advantage of the Green Hills RTOS and the on-chip assets of the R-Car D1. Altia's focus on delivering the highest quality software – including company initiatives for ASPICE, MISRA and ISO 26262 – make Altia and Green Hills INTEGRITY a perfect pairing for automotive production.
