Altia Announces DeepScreen Code Running on NXP i.MX 8 Applications Processor

Colorado Springs, CO, June 29, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Altia today announced support to scale Altia DeepScreen to NXP i.MX 8 applications processors. The two companies share a long history of success for producing embedded HMIs and have a proven track record for providing intuitive, high-performance graphical user interfaces to customers. From NXP’s LPC1788 microcontrollers to S32V processors all the way to i.MX 6 applications processors, Altia DeepScreen supports the immense range of low to high-power hardware from NXP.

The NXP i.MX 8 family of processors provides industry-leading audio, voice and video processing to accommodate Internet of Things devices and advanced automotive displays – including multiple screen integrated cockpit applications. Resources included in the NXP i.MX 8 family can range from two ARM® Cortex®-A53 to a combination of four ARM® Cortex®-A53 with two ARM® Cortex®-A72 cores. The i.MX 8 family can run screens ranging from one to four 1080p displays or one 4K display.

“The i.MX 8 family is NXP’s latest offering for next generation embedded displays and offers a range of features to meet the needs of many devices that will benefit from advanced graphics,” said Ronald Martino, general manager and vice president of i.MX applications processor products at NXP. “Altia’s latest cluster gives a glimpse into the true power of this processor to our customers and partners.”

Altia’s advanced embedded GUI editor and graphics code generator are exceptionally suited for high power hardware like the NXP i.MX 8 applications processor. The Altia tool suite offers WYSIWYG support for software and hardware layers, allowing designers to get the most out of the i.MX 8’s advanced architecture. Additionally, Altia’s auto customers are increasingly working with 3D content. The bidirectional 3D model support within Altia allows for quick, easy iterations of dynamic, integrated 2D and 3D graphics for clusters, HUDs, IVIs and driver displays.

“The i.MX 8 will support a variety of the most advanced next generation HMIs – some of which will communicate mission-critical information. Over the last five years, Altia has dramatically increased its focus on safety and certification. Our initiatives focused on ASPICE, MISRA and ISO 26262 help us to deliver the highest quality software for embedding on powerful processors like the i.MX 8,” says Michael Hill, Altia Vice President of Engineering. “When automakers choose the proven i.MX platform with Altia, they benefit from a solid production pairing and the capability to deliver stunning, high performance graphics including 3D.”
