Green Investment Bank, Green Giraffe and More Discuss Future of Offshore Wind Energy Market

SMi Reports: Green Investment Bank, Green Giraffe, and others to discuss offshore wind investment at SMi’s Benelux Infrastructure Forum on the 22-23rd November.

London, United Kingdom, June 29, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The recent statement signed by Germany, Denmark and Belgium on 6th June is an acknowledgement of the importance of offshore wind as a viable source of energy for Europe. Speaking to these developments and the future of offshore wind, presentations will be given during the Benelux Infrastructure Forum 2017.

Nick Gardiner, Managing Director, Green Investment Bank will give the Keynote Address about international investment in the Benelux region and how to attract and engage foreign investment. He will outline the inward and outward flow of infrastructure investment in the Benelux region and note several examples of projects funded by foreign investment. Perspectives from the privatisation process of the Green Investment Bank on transitioning into a global market, improving ability to appeal to foreign investment, and adjusting investment strategies for a world in transition are other talking points in this address.

A panel discussion will follow to address the importance of offshore wind for the future of energy and energy security of Europe. The vitality of good auction design and implementation on allocation of tracts and the success of wind energy policy will be discussed. Also addressed will be network constraints and grid stability on water depth, wind quality, bottom conditions, location, and system integration costs. The panel will also talk about the need to encourage diversification through the current momentum of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s).

Representing Green Giraffe, Managing Director, Niels Jongste, will provide an update on the status of offshore wind tenders and perspectives on the market outlook. Jongste will assess the results of present tender rounds, express expectations for the next round of offshore wind tenders, and present opinions on the long-term outlook for the offshore wind market in the Benelux and wider-European regions.

The conference further covers different project financing models within the Benelux region for infrastructure projects, the most current of which is Private Public Partnership (PPP). Alternatives such as project bonds, pension funds, government funding, and project financing will be discussed, as well as growing on and offshore markets investors are attracted to. Developments within the infrastructure market of the Benelux region in 2017 will be reviewed to find out what challenges were faced, how these were overcome and the outlook of the infrastructure market. The format of the conference will be an eclectic mix of presentations and round table discussions which allow plenty of debate and interaction amongst delegates and detailed analysis of the latest case studies.

In addition, the conference also features an exclusive pre-conference workshop on “Financing Offshore Wind in the New Competitive Auction Environment” hosted by, Amsterdam Capital Partners taking place on the 21st November 2017.

The conference has established itself as the industry-leading event for the Benelux region and will provide an unparalleled opportunity to learn and network amongst senior executives in this thriving industry. The Benelux Infrastructure Forum is the only place to meet the major players within this industry from banks, constructors and institutional investors to the lawyers and the regulators.

For those who are looking to attend, there is a £300 early bird offer available online ending on the 30th June 2017.
