A New Practice Opening in Boca with a New Perspective on Mental Health

After working in the mental health and substance abuse field in south Florida, two therapists decided to open a center that did something very different. This practice puts clients needs first, runs on ethical principles and provides unconditional positive regard for all clients.

Boca Raton, FL, July 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment have been in the news a lot lately, especially in south Florida, with debates regarding the quality of treatment, to corruption taking center stage. Two therapists in South Florida working primarily in the substance abuse arena were becoming increasing more upset with the industry and decided to make a change. For the past couple of years they have been discussing ways to do things differently with the emphasis on how to be effective for the client, remain ethical and putting the clients need first. Two months ago, these two therapists started to put that discussion into action. Me-Time Healing LLC is the result of those actions. Stacy Jo Poffenbarger, co-founder stated, "We needed to create a space wherein clients feel safe and comfortable. We are taking the perception of what people view therapy to be, cold, sterile, invasive, and turning that on its head. Clients are invited in for a cup of coffee or tea and a conversation and, together, we create the space for them to make the changes they want to better their lives."

Me-Time Healing is a new counseling center that is changing the way mental health and substance abuse is addressed and treated. Me-Time Healing LLC looks at their clients as people who want to get better and be more effective in their lives, but have become stuck and have lost their ability to move forward. Me-Time Healing LLC believes that clients get stuck because of past trauma, addiction issues, fear, lack of coping / life skills, mental health issues that are not manageable, lack of spiritual connection, guilt / shame, family issues, grief, and the list goes on. Me-Time Healing empowers their clients to identify what gets them feeling stuck and teaches them how to develop skills to overcome those challenges. With over 24 years combined experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse, these two therapists have created a warm, non-judgmental, cozy environment where clients are free to be themselves and engage in conversations with the common goal of the client gaining strength and insight.

The therapists at Me-Time Healing LLC have a unique way of engaging with their clients. In addition to their warm and cozy office in South Boca Raton, Florida, both therapists are certified in E-Therapy and can therefore work with clients all over the United States using video conferencing, phone, chat, text and even email. E-therapy allows clients who do not have services in their local areas, have mental health issues that make leaving their homes difficult, have family or work obligations that make time and scheduling obligations difficult, more obtainable. Both therapists are also certified to work with substance abuse clients internationally.

Me-Time Healing LLC also provides space for other clinicians to use. They have a space available for other therapists who align themselves with the Me-Time Healing mission statement and who are thinking about starting a practice but do not have office space, or for people that have an idea for a therapy group or support group but do not have a venue available. As well as providing space for therapists, Me-Time Healing assists in growing clinicians in the area. Supervision is available, consultation and consultations groups, and Me-TIme Healing is currently working toward becoming a CEU provider. Daniele Trevathan, one of the owners stated, “It is very rewarding when working with clients to see them have that ‘Aha’ moment when things seem to click into place but I find it equally as rewarding to grow clinicians to have the skills and confidence to help others.”

The vision is to provide a service which is obtainable and accessible to those who may usually struggle to obtain services and to meet the needs of those members of the community whose needs are often unmet.
