Comedian Leaves People Laughing, and Dying, in New Thriller by Ben Oneal

Dog Ear Publishing reviews a new thriller featuring a serial killer who works as a standup comedian. When he begins to make a name for himself offstage, an FBI agent and his team must stop the killer.

Anderson, IN, July 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Robbie Lester, known to comedy clubs as The Cowboy, certainly fits the part with his country attire and Texas drawl. But the comedian, who specializes in dark humor, has a secret. As author Ben Oneal reveals in a new mystery released by Dog Ear Publishing, it’s the dark part of himself that truly knows how to slay an audience.

Nobody knows that Robbie suffers from blackouts that can last from hours to days, but that’s when the entity he calls “the Darkness” does very bad things. His first victim put on display is a notorious drunken heckler from one of The Cowboy’s comedy shows. The discovery of a cooler containing nine fingertips by the body becomes even more grisly when a forensic pathologist realizes during the autopsy that none are from this victim: Nine more bodies are out there somewhere.

FBI Agent Benjamin Kroh with the Behavioral Analysis Unit is used to taking down some of the country’s worst killers, and he’s seen victims like this one before. He’s also got insider knowledge of the area where the body was found, thanks to the years he spent as a child in central Indiana. As the serial killer’s death toll mounts, the FBI agent must race against time to stop the Fingertip Killer from continuing the spree before it reaches those Kroh holds most dear, including someone he is beginning to love. “Die Laughing” takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of suspense, from its opening lines to a grim showdown in a lair that has seen terrible things.

Author Ben Oneal worked as a lamp designer for General Motors after his graduation from Purdue University. While at GM, he met a man suspected of killing his mother and two wives who had been convicted of killing his third wife. That coworker sparked Oneal’s interest in criminal psychology, especially serial killers. The author considered becoming a standup comedian.
