New York, NY, August 01, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Hard-hitting, NYC-based indie rock band KITARI will be headlining Mercury Lounge on Saturday, August 5th. Combining elements of post-punk-inspired modern rock bands such as U2 and Kings of Leon with the classic, psychedelic sounds of the Doors and Cream, the high-energy quartet mixes infectious melodies with epic, spaced-out jams.

KITARI can trace its origins back to December 2015, when Jared Rinaldi (vocals, guitar) happened to stumble into indie-music mecca Arlene's Grocery on his birthday and saw Jim Saint-Amour drumming in a live drum n' bass band. Impressed by Jim's insane speed and polyrhythmic flourishes, Jared sent Jim some rough demos and asked the drummer if he wanted to contribute his skills to a 3 song demo album to be recorded at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY, with Chris Bittner (Coheed and Cambria, Team Sleep) as producer.

Fast-forward to Summer 2017, and KITARI has quite the track record a band being together just over a year. The band has both an EP and just-released ten track album under their belt, has packed houses at dozens of shows all throughout NYC at such renowned venues as Arlene's Grocery, Bowery Electric, the Shrine and DROM, has released a music video for their blisteringly hot single "Ghost City Shores" and has had their song "The Scarecrow & the Manor" played on "The Locally Grown w/ MK" show on Radio Woodstock, 100.1 FM.

The quartet is rounded out by keyboard virtuoso Chris Siegrist, and bassist Boris, whose awesome stage presence and enthusiasm is the icing on the Kitari cake. Their next music video, for their single "Feast of Fiends," is currently in post-production and should be ready in time for their next show at the world-famous Mercury Lounge on Saturday, August 5th. Their full-length album, entitled "The Breath of Empty Space," can be heard for free in its entirety on – SoundCloud (link: SoundCloud.com/Kitari).

Kitari plans on hitting the road in September for a northeast college tour and releasing several more music videos for the songs from "The Breath of Empty Space," as well as playing more shows in and around NYC.
