"Playing for Peanuts" Teams Up with IronWood Bat Company

"Playing for Peanuts," a new TV show about minor league baseball, announced that IronWood Bat Company will be the sponsor of the show's first Internet-only video clip.

Valhalla, NY, February 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- "Playing for Peanuts," a new TV show about minor league baseball, announced that IronWood Bat Company will be the sponsor of the show's first Internet-only video clip.

"Playing for Peanuts" chronicles a year in the life of the South Georgia Peanuts of the independent South Coast League. The show is scheduled to begin airing in spring 2008 on regional sports networks across the US and Canada.

Thanks to unrestricted access to the Peanuts players, coaches and staff, producer John Fitzgerald was able to compile a large amount of bonus content.

"Our cameras followed the South Georgia Peanuts for five months - from the clubhouse to the field to the team bus," explains Fitzgerald. "When the season ended, we had a huge amount of extra footage that was so compelling that we probably could have added a few more episodes to the show. In the end, I decided to use that extra footage to promote the show on the Internet. I envision the show's website as a supplement to the show. It will allow us to develop characters beyond what is possible in a half-hour episode."

The first video is an interview with Peanuts player Steve Garrabrants. The clip will be featured on popular video sharing websites like Youtube and Revver and also on the Playing for Peanuts website. Fitzgerald has guaranteed that each video will receive a minimum of 5,000 views in 90 days.

"We will be actively promoting these videos to baseball fans and amateur players and coaches," explains Fitzgerald. "I am anticipating a great response and I think the low cost makes this an ideal opportunity for small baseball equipment manufacturers who might not have the resources to launch a national advertising campaign."

"We are thrilled at the opportunity to sponsor the first Internet-only video clip from "Playing for Peanuts," explains Ironwood co-owner Barb Scott. "We are a small company, but we strive to be the best. While we may not have the advertising budget to be a major TV advertiser, we feel this will allow us to reach baseball players and coaches at an affordable price."

"After viewing the video, people can click over to the IronWood website and they'll receive a 10% discount on their order when they mention Playing for Peanuts," explains Scott.

Fitzgerald plans to release similar videos throughout the coming weeks, leading up to the show's broadcast debut.
