U.S. Pro-Am - FootGolf World Tour 2017

The U.S. Pro-Am is the American Major of the FootGolf World Tour 2017 organized by the Federation for International FootGolf.

Kissimmee, FL, August 26, 2017 --(PR.com)-- This open competition of FootGolf will feature ​130 footgolfers from 18 countries, including FootGolf World Champion Christian Otero; 6 of the Top 10 players in the World; 2 U.S. Champions, #1 Ranked Player in America; along with former FIFA professional soccer players​ Roberto Fabian Ayala (Valencia, AC Milan, Argentina National Team World Cup 2006), Renato Sampaio (Sao Paulo FC), Sergio F. Vazquez (Argentina National Team World Cup USA 1994), Brian Mills (Celtic FC), Julian Nash (MLS Earthquakes / Dynamo), Sebastian Godoy (Colon, Arg / Huachipato, Chile) and other national and international​ footgolfers. These players will​ compete​​​ in a 54-hole tournament over ​3​ days. The tournament is being played on The Watson course at Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, where 18 holes of FootGolf are permanently incorporated along the fairways.

The U.S. Pro-Am 2017​​ will take place from ​Friday September 1st. to ​Sunday September​ 3rd,​ ​with ​​9 AM shotgun starts. The public and press are welcome to come out and watch the competition. The tournament has a cash purse of $12,500 and there are categories for Men, Seniors (46 and older) and Women. This tournament is also one of the six Majors of the FootGolf World Tour and will have 1000 FIFG (Federation for International FootGolf) Ranking points.

“AFGL has worked for the last five years to create a network of almost 600 courses in all 50 States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands,” said AFGL Founder, Roberto Balestrini, “These major tournaments bring a spotlight to the rapid growth of the sport and its integration into the competitive sports landscape.”

FootGolf, which is played on a traditional golf course, involves the kicking of a soccer ball down the fairway of the course, with the intention, like golf, of reaching the hole in as few “strokes” (kicks) as possible.
