American Society of Clinical Hypnosis Reports That Hypnosis Improves the Quality of Life of Cancer Patients

Bloomingdale, IL, October 04, 2017 --(PR.com)-- As reported in the July 2017 special issue of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis (AJCH) focusing on the Benefits of Hypnosis in Cancer Care (Volume 60, Number 1) current research indicates that:

• participation in a self-hypnosis class significantly improved the quality of life of breast cancer patients in 16 areas, including patients having significantly less side effects, and feeling less ill, sad, and nervous;
• changes in hypnosis attitudes impacted treatment outcomes with improvements in symptoms such as pain intensity, fatigue, depression, and sleep quality; and
• offering hypnotherapy groups to breast cancer patients in the first month of chemotherapy effectively reduced anxiety and distress, and increased optimism and self-esteem.

Founded by Milton H. Erickson, MD in 1957, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) promotes greater acceptance of hypnosis as a clinical tool with broad applications. ASCH is unique among organizations for professionals using hypnosis in that members must be licensed health care workers and, at a minimum, have obtained a master’s degree.
