International Assoc. of Who’s Who Has Named Maryellen Douglass Van Royen Professional of the Year

Maryellen Douglass Van Royen, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is recognized by the International Who’s Who for her contributions to the field of Hospitality.

New York, NY, September 09, 2017 --(PR.com)-- With over two decades of hospitality experience, Maryellen serves as a Task Force Sales Manager for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. As the Task Force Sales Manager for Hyatt Hotels, Maryellen assists hotels in sales strategy and provides additional resources in both business travel, groups, meetings & events.

Prior to her position at Hyatt Hotels, Maryellen has held leadership positions in Philadelphia and New York City. In recent years, she served as the Director of Sales & Marketing for The Rittenhouse Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing, both in Philadelphia. Though she was based in New York City most of her career, Maryellen held leadership positions at The Plaza Hotel, The New York Palace, Loews Regency - NY and American Express.

Maryellen holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and completed a marketing certification at New York University. She is certified in negotiations and problem solving through the Harvard Business School and a Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Currently, Maryellen is in pursuit of a Master’s degree while also teaching hospitality courses, both at Temple University. Maryellen believes in training, education and mentoring others to strengthen America’s workforce, especially in the Hospitality Industry.

Due to her level of dedication to the hospitality industry, Maryellen is recognized as the 2015 Professional of the Year for Hospitality Sales & Marketing by Capital Who’s Who, 2015 Professional of the Year by the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals, 2015 Professional of the Year in Hospitality Sales & Marketing by Strathmore Who’s Who. Her extensive knowledge has led to her induction as the 2014-2015 VIP Woman of the Year in Hospitality by the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), the 2015 Top Female Executive and the 2014 Top Leadership & Community Outreach in the Hospitality Industry by the International Women’s Leadership Association (IWLA).

Maryellen maintains affiliations with The International Women’s Leadership Association (IWLA), the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), and the Business Travel Association of Philadelphia. She has served as a Board Member for The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI) - The Big Apple Chapter, The Union Church of Bay Ridge Brooklyn, and Rittenhouse Row in Philadelphia, PA.

Additionally, Maryellen volunteers with organizations such as Lombard Senior Citizen Center and Little Smiles (www.Littlesmiles.org). She has been fortunate to be a sponsor to a 16-year-old girl in the Philippines for the last six years. This commitment created an International pen-pal for her and her son to learn from children around the Globe. She holds a position as an Elder within the Presbyterian Church.

She attributes her success to support from her husband of over twenty-years, Donald and son, Aidan.

In her free time, Maryellen enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
