Students of Kyoto-Sangyo University visit Dr V N Bedekar Institute of Management Studies

As part of the cultural exchange programme between the Kyoto-Sangyo University, Kyoto and Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM) in Thane, a group 15 students visited VPM’s Dr V N Bedekar College of Management Studies (Dr. VNBRIMS) last week.

Thane, India, September 15, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The students from Kyoto Sangyo University were guided by their teacher Dr Kiyokuni Shiga. Dr Shiga is a professor of Buddhism and Indian Philosophy.

This was the 5th year of the student exchange association between Vidya Prasarak Mandal & Kyoto-Sangyo University. The student visit is arranged during the period of Ganesha Festival every year where the students get an opportunity to witness the Ganesha Festival celebration and festivities in the city. The itinerary for 14 days includes engaging educational & cultural activities. The day begins with an early morning yoga session where the students are taught elementary asanas and breathing techniques that can enhance their energy levels. Following a fulfilling yoga session and breakfast, the students have introductory class in Hindi language and English conversational skills. Apart from a city tour of Mumbai, an educational tour to Nashik is arranged for the students. They visit Buddha Vihar, Dadasaheb Phalke Memorial, Panduleni caves, Kapileshwar mandir, Sita gupha and Kalaram mandir.

Speaking on this occasion Dr Nitin Joshi - Director, Dr. V N Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (Dr VNBRIMS) said, “It is an honour to host our guests from Japan and foster an opportunity for exchange of thoughts and ideas among students. Our efforts are always directed to give our students a global exposure and acquaint them with international cultures and practices especially in the management sector.”

Dr Sudhakar Agarkar, Professor – Dr VNBRIMS who has been instrumental in initiating the student exchange programmes at VPM said “Through cultural exchange programme we inculcate in the students the understanding of group dynamics and instill a personal sensitivity towards others and our students get a global perspective.”

With their efficient organization models and emphasis on total quality management, innovation and cost-effectiveness, Japanese companies have set an example to the whole world and exhibited some of the finest management techniques. The students of Dr VNBRIMS got an opportunity to get familiar with these management ideas through activities and conversation with the students from Kyoto-Sangyo.

A convocation and felicitation program for outstanding students in autonomous courses was held during the same duration in the VPM campus and Dr Shiga was the special guest for the event. In his speech at the event Dr Shiga expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honour and hospitality and also mentioned that “I am very humbled to know that in India a day is dedicated for the appreciation of teachers and celebrated as Teachers Day. It reflects on India’s deeply rooted beliefs and values of respect for teachers or gurus.”
