Helsinki, Finland, September 27, 2017 --(PR.com
)-- BestCrypt Volume Encryption, Jetico’s superior whole disk encryption software, is now in the final stage of being certified by the National Cyber Security Centre Finland (NCSC-FI) at FICORA. Upon receiving the National STIII Certification, Jetico’s solution will be the first and only Finnish disk encryption software to be approved for use to protect national classified information in Finland. Initiated in October 2016, the final certification is expected by the end of 2017.
Mr. Aki Tauriainen, Chief Inspector of Audits and Accreditation of the National Cyber Security Centre Finland says, "Having Finnish alternatives available for our national use makes our country less dependent on external technologies. Being responsible for the approval of cryptographic products for processing national classified information in Finland, we are always glad to test domestic products and cheer for the products to pass the accreditation, which is not always obvious."
Eventually, the goal is to have BestCrypt also approved for use to protect international classified information throughout Europe by obtaining secondary accreditation in an AQUA qualified country.
Mr. Tauriainen continues, "While benefiting information security in Finland, this certification also provides a path to the products being used EU-wide, thus strengthening the position of Finland in the European and global cyber scene."
Jetico Founder & Chairman, Dr. Tommi Rasila comments, "Jetico has always been driven by product quality and reputation. The result is our impeccable track record and trust for over two decades. When TrueCrypt was taken off the list of approved tools, it created a hole in the availability of encryption software for use by the Finnish authorities. The recommendation to accredit BestCrypt was a natural step forward. Jetico will be proud to serve our local users in Finland - our export percentage is now 99,6%, down from 99,8% two years ago."
Jetico products are in wide use by authorities around the globe, such as the U.S. Department of Defense and the Hong Kong government. The STIII certification – when given – will allow Jetico to sell their products also to Finnish authorities, thus contributing to the self-sufficiency of their home country which is known for its strong cyber sector.
