)-- Grand Funk Railroad, one of the top-selling American rock and roll groups of the 1970s, will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center on Friday, Jan. 19 at 9 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale at noon Tuesday, Oct. 10 and can be purchased online at www.doverdowns.com or by calling VIP Services at (800) 711-5882. Regular ticket prices range from $30-$50. New in 2018, a limited number of premium seat tickets are available for $100, which includes a seat in the first five rows from the stage and early admission to the Rollins Center.
Grand Funk Railroad, which formed in 1969 in Flint, Mich., is comprised of original members Don Brewer (vocals, drums) and Mel Schacher (bass) as well as Max Carl (vocals), Bruce Kulick (lead guitar) and Tim Cashion (keyboards).
The group is best known for the songs “We’re An American Band,” “Locomotion,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” and “I’m Your Captain (Closer To Home)” among 19 charted singles and eight Top 40 hits. The group’s two No. 1 hits, “We’re An American Band,” and “Locomotion,” each sold more than 1 million copies.
Grand Funk Railroad’s first two studio albums were released in 1969. Since then, the group has accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records, with more than 25 million albums sold. Other career highlights include several world tours where they played in sold out venues in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Japan. One of Grand Funk Railroad’s shows, in New York’s Shea Stadium in 1971, sold out faster than The Beatles’ famed 1965 show in the same venue.
