Keep Irving Beautiful Attends YMCA Fall Festival; Board Members and North Lake Students Work Together

Irving, TX, November 04, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) continued a tradition of participating in the Irving Family YMCA’s Fall Festival on Friday, October 27. KIB brought its spinning prize wheel, and children and adults, most dressed in costumes, took turns spinning the prize wheel and answering questions about recycling, energy conservation, and the environment. Prizes were recycled books donated by the Friends of the Irving Public Library. KIB also promoted clean public spaces by giving out car litter bags, and had a variety of other giveaway items for visitors to their table. KIB Board Members Rachel Moon and Candace Eldridge attended the event, along with five North Lake College students who are part of the Service Learning Program. The Service Learning students not only volunteered at the KIB table, but also helped wherever they were needed, with games and activities like the bounce house.

“This is a safe, family-friendly event that we are always happy to be a part of,” said Ms. Moon. “The Irving Family YMCA is one of our community partners, and it’s an honor to work with them, as we have been doing for many years.” Ms. Eldridge, who is also the Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Advisor at North Lake, added, “This is a great opportunity for the students to interact in the Irving community while earning their Service Learning credits. They really enjoy activities like these, and we appreciate the YMCA for offering this to us.”
