August Gregory Named 2017 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship Winner

Drug Lawsuit Source announces the winner of its Single Parent Scholarship.

Southfield, MI, November 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Drug Lawsuit Source is pleased to announce August Gregory, of Reading, Penn., has been named this year’s recipient of the 2017 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship.

Established in 2015, the Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was created to help take some of the financial burden off single-parent families who are in pursuit of higher education. Each year, Drug Lawsuit Source -- an online resource for information about different diseases and medical conditions -- awards $1,000 to a single parent who is helping raise at least one child.

Gregory has overcome several battles in her life and credits her 10-year-old son, Mekhai, who she said has continuously motivated her to pursue higher education in an effort to better their lives.

“While many kids were on playdates, Mekhai spent most evenings with me in the library,” Gregory said. “I packed snacks, books and quiet toys for him and took study breaks to help review his preschool lessons.”

Her persistence paid off when she graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy on Mother’s Day 2014. However, Gregory wasn't done. She was recently accepted into the occupational therapy program at Alvernia University where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree.

“I want to be able to pay for my son to go to college one day without the financial stress or student loans. Hopefully, my master’s degree will afford me that opportunity," Gregory said. “For now, this scholarship will significantly help me ease the financial burden I face towards school and help as I strive for a better future for both Mekhai and I.”

Each year, the DLS Single Parent Scholarship is available to one student of any age who is a single parent helping to raise at least one child, currently enrolled in a high school, trade school, apprentice school, junior college, college, university, or graduate school in the United States with a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

The deadline to apply for the 2017 Drug Lawsuit Source Single Parent Scholarship was Nov. 1, 2017. Details for the 2018 scholarship will be posted in the near future on www.druglawsuitsource.com.
