The Whispers, R&B Hit Makers for Five Decades, to Perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Friday, April 13

Dover, DE, December 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The Whispers, who have entertained audiences for more than 50 years with their R&B, disco, jazz and pop hits, will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center on Friday, April 13 at 9 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and can be purchased online at doverdowns.com or by contacting VIP Services at (800) 711-5882. Regular ticket prices range from $35-$55. New in 2018, a limited number of premium tickets are available for $105, which includes a seat in the first five rows from the stage and early admission to the Rollins Center.

The Whispers formed in 1964 in California and were the first group to be signed to SoulTrain Records. Later, the group earned many of their top hits with Solar Records. Among their top singles are “Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong,” “And the Beat Goes On,” “Rock Steady,” “A Song for Donny,” and “Lady.”

The Whispers include Walter Scott, Wallace Scott and Leaveil Degree, who replaced Gordy Harmon in 1973. Longtime fourth member Nicholas Caldwell passed away in 2016.

Through 33 top-10 hits, more than 20 Billboard charted albums and 46 Billboard charted singles, the Whispers continue to tour around the world. Among the honors for the Whispers are inductions into the Vocal Group and Rhythm and Blues Halls of Fame, as well as recipients of an NAACP Image Award and a Black Music Academy of America “Living Legend” award.

The Whispers’ music has been featured in more than 600 musical compilations as well as movie soundtracks for films such as “Waiting to Exhale,” “Madea’s Family Reunion” and “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.”
