Delaware State University Awarded $22,495 Grant to Implement Campus Safety App for Their Campus

Chicago, IL, December 23, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Campus Consortium, the largest global education association of schools, colleges and universities awards Delaware State University a $22,495 Grant to implement a campus safety app for students and faculty. Located in Dover, Delaware, the University has 42 undergraduate degree programs, 16 master’s degree programs and five doctoral degree programs. For more than 126 years, Delaware State University has served the state, the nation, and the world through education and outreach.

“We are delighted to receive a Grant from Campus Consortium. This Grant will help fund a mobile app for the safety of our students and faculty. With the major use of smartphones, it is imperative that the Campus Safety app be available for all our students. We are glad that simply with the tap of a button, students can alert police, medical services, friends and family of an emergency,” said Dr. Vita Pickrum, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Delaware State University.

The Campus Consortium Grant will enable Delaware State University to further improve the safety and security on campus. The Campus Safety App brings this functionality to your smartphone for an added sense of security both on and off campus. The application uses Wi-Fi or cellular data to provide your location data when you make an emergency call with the app. This gives far more accurate information about where you are, and therefore provides first responders with a better idea of where they need to go. Students can additionally redo the application to send alerts to their folks, gatekeepers or companions if there arises an occurrence of a crisis.

“We are happy to award Delaware State University with the Campus Safety Grant. The app will definitely ensure a much safer campus life for students and faculty,” states Anjli Jain, Chairman of the Campus Consortium. “We congratulate them on receiving the Campus Consortium Grant.”
