Sixth District Candidate Ken Cope Backs Trump on Pakistan Aid Reduction

Arlington, TX, January 09, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Ken Cope, Republican candidate for U.S. Representative in the Sixth District, said today he fully supports President Trump’s suspension of aid funds to Pakistan, and that if elected, he would support similar action directed at other “pseudo allies.”

“Pakistan has for too long talked out of both sides of its mouth when it came to its role as a supposed U.S. ally,” Cope said. “We would much rather have Pakistan as a full partner in the fight against terrorism, but until the Pakistani government makes real moves in that direction, it doesn’t deserve U.S. assistance.”

Regrettably, Cope said, "There are too many countries like Pakistan that pay lip service to our mutual interests, but then go on to offer half-hearted support or even undermine the U.S."

“For these pseudo allies, we should reduce the aid we send them and use it for better purposes. Senator Rand Paul’s suggestion that we use it for infrastructure is fine, but in my view, an even better investment would be to use it for our own military,” Cope said. “What we send to other countries in aid should always first and foremost be fully aligned with our interests.”

Cope is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and retired aerospace executive who is seeking the Congressional seat being vacated by Joe Barton.
