Calivirgin Olive Oil Honored with Third Good Food Award

San Francisco, CA, January 28, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Calivirgin, a family owned olive oil company with olive groves and operations in Lodi California, is the recipient of their third straight Good Food Award; this year receiving the award for their Calivirgin Hot Virgin Jalapeno olive oil. "We have been making the jalapeno olive oil for nearly a decade and it is one of our most awarded oils," said Mike Coldani, chief olive oil maker for Calivirgin. "Last year it won 13 awards including three best of show awards but personally I think this years' batch is a little better," said Coldani. The entire Calivirgin line of flavored olive oils are made by crushing fresh olive and citrus/herbs/produce together to create a true to taste oil with no preservatives or additives. Organized by the Good Food Foundation, the Good Food Awards celebrated 15 categories from craft beer and spirits to coffee to cheese. The 2018 Finalists represent the vanguard in each of their industries, setting new standards for gastronomic excellence as well as social and environmental practices that have over time proven to be adopted by the rest of the industry. Each Finalist rose to the top in a blind tasting of 2,057 entries, and also passed a rigorous vetting to confirm they meed Good Food Awards standards regarding supply chain transparency, environmentally sound agricultural practices, humane animal husbandry and deep community engagement. The presenting sponsor was the Good Food Merchants Collaborative; comprised of 22 of the country's top independently-owned retailers. The Winners were announced on Friday, January 19, 2018 at a gala in the historic San Francisco War Memorial. As part of the award, Calivirgin, along with the other finalists and winners, were allowed to participate in two days of celebration including the public Good Food Awards Marketplace and the industry-only Good Food Mercantile.
