Indiwear Showcases Latest Collection at Durban Fashion Show

Durban, South Africa, January 29, 2018 --( Indiwear’s “Clothing Palette” show returned to the prestigious Durban fashion show after more than two years. The event took place between January 24 and 27, 2018 in Umhlanga, an affluent residential, commercial and resort town north of Durban on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

The four-day event kickstarted with a launch reception on the Monday evening. Complimentary drinks and snacks flowed as the evening went on before the first day of the exhibition came to a close. The next day, visitors started arriving from 11 am to see some of the best Indian fashion on show in Durban. Visitors were so impressed with the collection on display that competition was rife for who would end up taking home some of the clothing on display.

Collections on display included branded clothing, handwoven fabrics, embroidered party dresses, anarkali dresses, evening gowns, contemporary lehengas, traditional sarees and finest bridal wear from India and South Asia.

The event materialised after a dozen like-minded designers and entrepreneurs in Indian fashion came together, creating one of a kind opportunity to celebrate and showcase the rich craftsmanship of Indian artisans. The endeavour was equally supported by patrons who shared passion based on their love for preserving traditional heritage and ethnic clothing.

Ajit Kumar, representing the leading Indian ethnic wear e-commerce company, said, “The world of contemporary Indian fashion is remoulding itself, and expanding at an exponential rate. The aim of this exhibition is to bring affordable and quality Indian wear fashion to the people of Indian and South Asian origin.”

“Our total online retail sales are already at substantial levels in South Africa after we expanded our online efforts outside India,” he added.

The company expects sales in the Southeast Africa region, especially South Africa, Mauritius, Réunion and Kenya to continue growing by 10 to 12 percent a year.
