Gulfport Ecumenical Fellowship to Host Church Security Seminar with Local Police

Gulfport Police Lieutenant Paul Podlin to offer local church leaders a seminar on church security, responding to an active shooter situation and working with local law enforcement, sponsored by the Gulfport Ecumenical Fellowship on March 1 at 6 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Gulfport, MS, February 15, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Gulfport Ecumenical Fellowship will host Lieutenant Paul Podlin of the Gulfport Police Department for a church security and active shooter training event on March 1 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 5005 Lawson Avenue in Gulfport. This training event, which is free and open to all Mississippi Gulf Coast clergy and church leaders, will offer churches practical tips for securing the safety of their worshipping communities, responding to an active shooter situation and working with local law enforcement.

“Many churches are receiving excellent advice from their associations and denominations in light of recent church shootings,” said the Rev. Claire Dobbs, Gulfport Ecumenical Fellowship program chair. “However, we wanted to make sure our local churches have the opportunity to learn from local law enforcement, in particular, since they will be any church’s first call in an emergency situation.”

Registration for this March 1 is not required. Call Westminster Presbyterian Church at (228) 864-3143 or email office@gulfportchurch.org for more information.
