Camellia Encryption Algorithm Now Supported by Jetico’s BestCrypt to Encrypt Files

The Camellia encryption algorithm - developed in Japan and considered unbreakable by brute-force attack – is now supported by BestCrypt Container Encryption, Jetico's software to encrypt files.

Helsinki, Finland, February 22, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Jetico, developer of world-class tools to encrypt files (https://www.jetico.com/data-encryption/encrypt-files-bestcrypt-container-encryption), has just updated BestCrypt Container Encryption (https://www.jetico.com/data-encryption/encrypt-files-bestcrypt-container-encryption) to include Camellia as one of the supported ciphers. Developed in Japan and considered unbreakable by brute-force attack, the Camellia encryption algorithm is a welcome alternative to the more popular Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

"There are no known successful attacks that meaningfully weaken the Camellia algorithm. Yet it seems most commercial encryption tools have not included support for this cipher," explains Jetico CEO, Michael Waksman. "For anyone wishing to rely on Camellia to protect their sensitive information, now they can count on BestCrypt."

Recognized to be the unique 256-bit block encryption algorithm that possesses security levels and processing abilities comparable to AES – BestCrypt’s default option – the Camellia cipher can easily be selected when creating a new container.

The Camellia encryption algorithm is approved for use and has been adopted:
- In Japan for e-Government systems
- In Europe by the New European Schemes for Signatures, Integrity and Encryption (NESSIE)
- Globally by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

Mr. Waksman concludes, "At Jetico we are always keeping an eye out; Camellia’s reputation and growing popularity can’t be ignored. More and more cyber security professionals and enthusiasts are discussing Camellia and using it. The BestCrypt R&D team demands to empower our users with the best and latest proven technology available."
