Supporting the Developments in Medical Devices
PMD announces a new high performance variant to the versatile 12mm DC motor range. The 112-200 unit is due to be available for general supply from mid-March and is being introduced as a result of growing interest in high quality DC motors for the Medical devices industry.
The developments in the Medical Devices sector have seen consistent growth over the last 10 years, with particular strengths due to the commercial successes of innovative new technologies from small upstart businesses.
Projects involving Precision Microdrives in this medical sector has been split into two significantly different applications. The company has been working with advances in motorised developments for larger fixed installation devices for hospitals and laboratories as well as for a rapidly growing sector of hand-held consumer electronics devices. In both scenarios, one of the critical factors for the solution lies in the testing and supply of small DC motor and micromotors. In fixed devices, precision actuation and control of optics and ventilation requires a small but reliable motor for optimal installation design. Hand-held devices focuses on the availability of small and light-weight motion solutions which focus on the limitation of the current draw and efficiency to prolong the battery life.
The new 112-200 unit is a brushed DC motor with a 12mm diameter and 30mm length boasting a massive 21,800 rpm operating speed and delivering a stall torque of 6.37mNm. With a high power conversion, the motor aims to supplement the 12mm range which already includes a low power motor with an identical external form factor.
Precision Microdrives focuses on development-volume to medium volume supply of miniature DC motors, geared motors and vibration motors with a unique supply system allowing fast online purchasing of development volumes down to single units. PMD’s application, sampling and development orientation naturally lends itself to upstart businesses pushing forward the boundaries of the devices sector.
