Camp M.A.T.E.S. 2018 Season Begins

Camp M.A.T.E.S. Now Accepting Applications for Summer Camp.

Columbia, SC, March 22, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Camp M.A.T.E.S., an eight-week long non-profit sports, yoga, social skills and nutrition summer camp designed for children four to 21 years old, is now accepting applications for the 2018 program. The Camp M.A.T.E.S. program offers opportunities for campers to learn social skills, nutrition and exercise routines and, of course, have fun. The camp is an inclusive program, open to children with high-functioning Autism and ADHD as well as children without a diagnosis who can benefit from the experience.

Camp M.A.T.E.S.’ activities are as diverse as its campers. Together with its partners, including SC DHEC for cooking and nutrition classes and several local fitness organizations, Camp M.A.T.E.S. provides life-changing experiences that vary in subject matter and benefit campers as a whole.

Camp M.A.T.E.S also boasts a fully qualified staff and is designed and managed by its founder, Dr. Allison Brazendale. In addition to providing therapy, diagnostic assessment, and social skills, Dr. Brazendale spends the year researching Autism and related disorders. That research helps provide the basis of the Camp M.A.T.E.S. curriculum.

“Camp M.A.T.E.S. is an inclusive camp environment that is fun and enriching for children,” Dr. Brazendale said. “We strive to provide theory driven programming to really enhance social skills as well as friendship building for children ages four to 21.”

In addition to providing these opportunities, Camp M.A.T.E.S. looks to help make the camp available to all prospective campers with yearly scholarships and discounts. Among these discounts include price reductions for campers who register before April 16 and those who have siblings who also attend camp. A full list of available discounts can be found at http://autismacademyofsc.org/camp-mates. All campers are eligible to apply for scholarships, which are funded by donations and community fundraisers.

Space in the Camp M.A.T.E.S. program is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Applications will be open until May 7 and can be found at http://autismacademyofsc.org/camp-mates.
