The ArtsCenter Welcomes the 2018 Sacred Arts Tour to Carrboro

Tibetan Buddhist Monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery Construct Sand Mandala.

Carrboro, NC, March 31, 2018 --(PR.com)-- From May 15th - 19th, 2018, The ArtsCenter is honored to welcome the 2018 Sacred Arts Tour as they construct a sacred sand mandala in The ArtsCenter's Nicholson Gallery. Viewing of the mandala construction is free and open to the public but donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Tibetan Buddhist Monks of Drepung Gomang Monastery will return to The ArtsCenter in Carrboro to construct a sacred sand mandala to show their compassion and loving kindness for the ongoing support of the Chapel Hill Carrboro community. The group will construct a mandala over a 5 day period beginning May 15th in the Nicholson Art Gallery at the ArtsCenter.

Opening Ceremony: Tuesday, May 15th, 12:30pm
Mandala construction 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Wednesday through Friday Schedule:
Construction, 10:30am – 5:30pm

Closing Ceremony: Saturday May 19th – Viewing and merchandise sales from 10am – 2pm
Closing ceremony starts at 2:15pm – dispersal information TBA

Nicholson Gallery is open to the public from 10:30am to closing and is wheelchair accessible. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. All proceeds collected during this event will be sent directly to the monastery to house, care and feed the monks in residence at Drepung Gomang Monastery and benefit the Tibetan refugee community they serve in Mundgod.
