Fresno, CA, June 25, 2018 --(PR.com)-- CMAC.tv is hosting the Art of Rob Lopez for First Thursday Arthop, July 5, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Community Media Access Collaborative is in the historic Fresno Bee Building, located at 1555 Van Ness Avenue, Fresno, California 93721.

The art reception will feature illustrations and concept art from Spiral Legion, the science-fiction horror universe Lopez has been building since the early 90s. Spiral Legion takes place five hundred years from now and features a conflict between technology-defying reptilian aliens, the Shrekar, and a humanity that has decided to fight them by genetically engineering not just soldiers, but entire civilian populations, to fight them hand to hand if necessary, tackling questions like what it is to be human, racial equality, diversity, violence and the cost of war. To find out more, visit the Spiral Legion facebook page.

Other pieces to round out this first "Art of Rob Lopez" collection will come from his webcomic Forsaken Stars, his new YA superhero novel/comic project Black Gum, started last summer over instagram, and art created out of Leslie Abney's Fresno Drink and Draw live model drawing events at Fulton 55. "I like to say there's something for everybody in this show—robots, aliens, monsters, pin-ups, heroes, villains—there's even a muppet," Lopez said. "This is a fun show, with my more family friendly art—I have lots of nieces and nephews and friends with kids and I want them to come and enjoy themselves."

CMAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering voices in the community through media. They offer tools and training to create and distribute high-quality video content that is of interest to local audiences. The modern facility features a production studio, editing suites, meeting rooms, classroom space, and a computer lab, along with a variety of portable production gear. It also houses an automated broadcast center, which delivers programming to CMAC TV channels on Comcast, AT&T U-verse, and the Internet.

The Art of Rob Lopez Reception at CMAC is a must-stop for Arthop First Thursday in July, with art, books, prints, refreshments, hors d'oeuvres and the atmospheric, chill beats of DJ Erik Henderson! Great Arthop venues are a step away too, including Arte Americas, K-Jewel, Broadway Studios, Frank's Place and Cornerstone Coffee.

About the Artist and Author:
Rob Lopez is a Central Valley Native. Born in Dinuba, raised in Orange Cove, he went to high school and college in Reedley, and has worked and lived in Selma, and Kingsburg and settled in Fresno for nearly a decade. He has drawn and written since he could hold a crayon, dumpster diving at the school across the street from his house for paper the teachers would throw out at the end of the schoolyear every summer. For most of his life he’s worked in pencil and pen, creating comic book style art, and concept art, but has steadily moved to more digital mediums such as Clip Studio Paint Pro, Medibang and Procreate for the iPad for more colorful and detailed illustrations. Now back in Orange Cove, Rob is a member of the Arts Consortium and a "bro" at #ILOVEARTBRO in Visalia. He still spends much of his time in Fresno, for Arthops, events at Strummer's, Heroes Comic Book store and Fresno Drink and Draw at Fulton 55.
