Actor Patrick Stewart Offers Rave Review for Best Picture Oil + Water

Beachburg, Canada, March 14, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Actor Patrick Stewart was so impressed by Oil + Water, winner of Best Picture at the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival in Los Angeles, that he called for audiences “to find this movie and to watch it again and again.”

Stewart, a renowned Shakespearean actor who famously played Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, described Oil + Water as “one of the most extraordinary accounts of man's enthusiasm, passion, courage, and more than anything else, the desire to have a good time” at the awards ceremony held in late 2007. A video clip of his praise for the film has recently been posted on the video sharing site, YouTube:

Oil + Water tells the story of two world-class kayakers and good friends who embark on the longest-ever petroleum-free road trip, traveling over 21,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina in a retro-fitted Japanese fire truck named Baby. After converting the truck's regular diesel engine to run on any kind of natural oil, Seth Warren and Tyler Bradt journeyed for over a year through 16 countries, an endless summer adventure of paddling, driving, exploring and promoting alternative fuel sources. By collaborating with schools, local governments, farmers, agricultural research centers and media, they held demonstrations, workshops and community gatherings to spread the word about sustainable energy, meeting many inspiring people and enjoying some of the best whitewater paddling in the Americas along the way. A trailer for the film is also available on YouTube: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzV-6Q3GSfA&NR=1).

Stewart told the full house at the Jules Verne awards ceremony, “A third of the way through watching this movie, I said to myself, ‘They're not going to make it. There is something so indescribably homespun and flaky about this entire enterprise! This is going to end badly,’ I kept saying to myself,” as the audience responded with laughter. “Well, they made it. And they made, along the way... one of the greatest home videos you’ll ever see.”

Oil + Water has picked up a slew of awards and accolades on the film festival circuit. Now an Official Selection at the 2008 Vancouver International Film Fest, the Wild and Scenic Film Fest, the Durango Film Fest, and the Carbondale Film Fest, Oil + Water is sure to continue delighting film festival audiences and home viewers around the world.
