Cincinnati, OH, August 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- One year later, Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization in Cincinnati, OH continues providing aid to areas that were affected by the historic series of hurricanes that swept through the Gulf Coast and Caribbean last fall. In 2018, Matthew 25 has shipped approximately 60 truckloads of long-term recovery and relief to hurricane victims of Harvey, Irma and Maria.

“Last year’s hurricane season was truly remarkable,” said Matthew 25’s CEO, Tim Mettey. “The ferocity of these storms left behind a vast amount of damage that will take years to recover from. Matthew 25 is there to help our partners continue the process of recovery and rebuilding. We will continue to work with our partners as long as there is a need for our products and services."

Hurricane Harvey (making landfall as a category 4 storm) roared into Texas on August 25 and swept up the coast, dropping torrential amounts of rain across coastal regions of the state. Harvey was followed quickly by Hurricane Irma (peaking as a category 5), which swept through the Caribbean, destroying the entire island of Barbuda on September 6 and then sweeping through the northeastern Caribbean and up the west coast of Florida. Irma was followed two weeks later by Hurricane Maria, which hit Dominica on September 18 and moved on to devastate the island of Puerto Rico.

Matthew 25’s Disaster Response Team deployed on August 29, 2017 and traveled to various areas impacted by hurricanes until the end of September. They traveled to locations in Texas, responding to Hurricane Harvey and then transitioned to Florida where they responded to areas impacted by Hurricane Irma. The team distributed initial supplies, provided laundry services, and connected with partners in the areas.

Matthew 25 also sent a medical mission team to Puerto Rico in October, 2017 that provided medical care and supplies to approximately 900 people, and distributed disaster supplies to approximately 10,000 people. Additionally, they distributed more than 30,000 water purifier sachets (the prepared equivalent of 16 truckloads of water).

In the final months of 2017, Matthew 25 shipped more than 100 truckloads of aid to the various disasters (approximately 2 million pounds) including 59 truckloads to Texas, 20 truckloads to Florida, 20 truckloads to Puerto Rico and 19 additional truckloads to other Caribbean locations, helping more than 1,000,000 people.
